Ohio Department of Transportation crews has begun that work that includes the walkway and resurfacing.
District 11 Public Information Officer Lauren Borell explains that this project also includes new bike lanes.
“The east side of the Tuscarawas River, they’re going to be making a bike path from the park heading out of Bolivar and that trail will follow Wilshire Boulevard.”
Borell adds that ODOT has many programs that communities can apply for to update infrastructure in their municipality.
“The villages and cities with funding. We have our safe routes to school. That is for schools to get new sidewalks and make for safer walking to and from school. The trails program, that’s a local project.”
Through these programs, ODOT is able to help eligible areas with funding for certain projects that will improve safety and transportation modes.
