Mary Alice Reporting – The Tuscarawas County Health Department is hosting a special four-day sports physical session by appointment.

The event starts today and will also be held tomorrow, from 8 am to 3:20 pm. The next round of physicals, during the same times, is June 13th and 14th.

Nursing Director Amy Kaiser says this is a great time to get kids their physicals for summer and for school activities.

“Health physical days for individuals who are playing sports or band, or band camp, things that are coming up for the summer. Again, trying to get some of those things done prior to the beginning of school so you’re not in a rush.”

During these special days, for any high school student of any age, sports physicals will be provided for $40, payable by cash, check, debit, or credit card. Appointments can be made by calling 330-343-5555, extension 174 or 181.

“We do tell all our clients, no matter what they’re coming for, to anticipate about an hour by the time they do their registration, the provider sees them, we give them any follow-up instructions, those kinds of things.”

Students coming in are asked to bring their school’s physical forms to the appointment.

Youth 18 and younger, who cannot attend during the special days, may call to request a sports physical appointment for an alternate day at the same $40 fee.

Kaiser adds that over the four special days, back-to-school immunizations will also be offered at an additional charge.
