Mary Alice Reporting:

(Tuesday, February 13th) New Philadelphia, Ohio – Parents and community members are invited to an informative meeting about adolescent mental health.

Personal and Family Counseling Youth Lead Coordinator Amy Miller explains that the Youth2Youth students at Tuscarawas Central Catholic wanted to provide the event to educate adults about mental health signs and how to be proactive.

“For me, mental health is being able to function. I think when you hit a point where you’re unstable personally and you’re not able to make it through the day-to-day, that’s when I say you have poor mental health.”

She says some of the topics at the Thursday, February 15th meeting include warning signs, such as withdrawing from friends or sports and posting social media messages of hopelessness.

The 7 pm meeting at TCC will host panelists, in the mental health field, to educate parents, teachers, coaches, and community members.
