Mary Alice Reporting – Tourism is a huge economic driver for Tuscarawas County and an employee of MWCD was able to attend an academy.
The Ohio Travel Associations Leadership Academy meet six times this year to hear from other members on a variety of topics.
Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District Marketing and Affair Administrator Adria Bergeron was part of the 2019-2020 class.
She says they were able to experience different statewide tourism experiences.
“From artists and culture to even ODOT and how that impacts tourism. It addresses many aspects of the industry from a professional level.”
A big take-away for Bergeron was the networking opportunity and hearing from tourism industry leaders.
“Talking about some of the things that I didn’t even know about, in terms of how funding might be generated for tourism, different events, or activities that we could host to garner more tourism for our area.”
MWCD draws in a large amount of tourism each year with 3.2 million visiting the different lakes under the district.
