Mary Alice Reporting:

(Thursday, December 6th) New Philadelphia, Ohio – The cause for a blaze at a house trailer is considered undetermined.

New Philadelphia fire units were dispatched Thursday just before 1:30am to Shel Mar Estates for a structure fire.

Chief Jim Parrish says when they arrived on scene, smoke was showing at 102 Seagull Lane.

“Fire coming out from underneath the trailer, extending to the interior of the trailer through the floor, and our firefighters went in there and extinguished the fire.”

The blaze, which did not spread to any neighboring residences, was under control within roughly 10 minutes.

He notes that no one was home at the time; however, during the primary search, firefighters located several animals.

“Found two dogs. They attempted to resuscitate them but they did not make it. The lady also did have a cat, and the cat did make it.”

Parrish considers the trailer to be a loss and says that the fire started under the structure.

Dover and Uhrichsville fire departments responded in mutual aid.
