Mary Alice Reporting – The United Way of Tuscarawas County is kicking off another year of fundraising to support the local area.
The 77th campaign begins this month to help support health and human support programs for a three year cycle in the county
United Way Community Resources Coordinator Susan Reidenbach explains that community volunteers go out to area businesses to educate potential donors about where the financial support goes toward.
“We have programs with partner agencies like Big Brothers, Big Sisters. We help mobile meals. We help with rent, utility, and mortgage assistance through the Salvation Army. We help with disaster relief with the Red Cross. Just a variety of different things with the amount of money raised we are able to spread it out.”
The campaign typically runs until the end of the year; however, donations are always accepted.
Reidenbach adds that, for 2019, chairing the annual fundraiser is Dover native Jennifer Jones. She will work alongside assistant campaign chair Buckeye Career Center Superintendent Bob Alsept to ensure 19 Tuscarawas programs are financially supported through community generosity.
