Nick McWilliams reporting – The Tuscarawas Valley School district is preparing for their back-to-school party, as well as the start of a new year.
Superintendent Mark Murphy, entering his 15th year at the helm, says that he is as excited for the start of this year as he was for his very first.
The Trojans will be welcomed back on Thursday, August 15th, with a celebration featuring food and entertainment.
“It’s just a huge event. We provide food, music, entertainment, we’ve got inflatables for the kids. It’s also an opportunity for our parents and families to connect with each other [and] celebrate the start of the school year.”
The event is held every year at the high school, and also gives families the chance to pick up their students Chromebooks for the year.
Murphy spoke volumes about the TV Connect initiative the district is hoping to grow, which provides the chance for better engagement within Tusky Valley schools.
“We want to connect and engage and empower our kids and our families around the life of the school district. And in the life of our community.”
Parents who want to learn about various topics such as safety in the school, college and career prep and even CPR can RSVP through the school’s website, and earn items such as a TV decal and a school logo tumbler.
Student’s first day back is August 21st.
