Mary Alice Reporting – The City of Uhrichsville is going after a grant that would aid in bridge maintenance work.

Council held a special meeting Monday evening to approve the Service Director to send in the application for potential approval.

Belle Everett noted that this is the first step in going for the grant opportunity through the Ohio Department of Transportation.

“At this point, it’s just an approval process to submit the application, and then, honestly, if we don’t find matching funds, we don’t have to do it.”

She said a focus for the funding would be directed to the West 3rd bridge that doesn’t need completely replaced; however, the platform of the structure needs attention related to freezing and thawing.

Typically, the ODOT Municipal Bridge Application Process has an 80/20 match provision but, for this funding round, 95% of construction cost would be covered leaving the remaining amount the city’s responsibility if approved.
