Nick McWilliams reporting – With new administration in place in the city of Uhrichsville, improvements to service equipment could soon begin.
During the last regularly-scheduled meeting of council, Mayor Mark Haney discussed a list of upgrades he hoped to achieve early in his time as the head of the municipality.
Uhrichsville recently borrowed a boom truck from New Philadelphia, but the city hopes to acquire their own, along with a new police cruiser and other various equipment.
“We are looking for a boom truck, and I’m going to ask the finance committee when we have the finance meeting to talk about that, and I’m going to ask to talk about, possibly, a new 1-ton or bigger dump truck, and possibly a new lease on a new backhoe.”
New Service Director Belle Everett is also looking for council approval for seeking a $300,000 matching infrastructure grant and the installation of new, automated fuel tanks for the city services garage.
Other discussions from council included the potential introduction of an ordinance requiring performance reviews every year for all department heads and filling the empty council seats that remain following the latest election cycle.
