(Thursday, September 13, 2018) New Philadelphia, Ohio – The United Way’s Annual Fundraising campaign will kick off this month.

Chris and Emily Lane, owners of the local Wendy’s corporation, have been named as the chairman and chairwoman for the 2018 campaign.

United Way Community Resource Coordinator Susan Reidenbach says it gives the organization a little extra help to have volunteer community chairpeople.

“They are actually working with the solicitors, the volunteer solicitors, in the community to get the information out to the businesses, help with the presentations of the United Way message and the United Way mission.”

The Lanes have been in business within the Tuscarawas Valley since 2006.

The United Way holds many fundraisers throughout the year such as the Color Us United Event and The Rockin’ Run 5 & 10K, but they rely on employees for the majority of their support.

“Our main source of income is through payroll deduction. They actually meet with their company once a year, we sometimes do presentations to those employees. And they make a note of – Hey, I want $10 taken out of each pay. And that over 26 pays turns into $260.”

Last year, the United Way raised over $545,000 and assisted more than 15,000 Tuscarawas County residents. In their 76th year, Reidenbach hopes to exceed last year’s record.
