Mary Alice Reporting – Those currently getting assistance through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will see certification periods extended.

Due to the uncertainty surrounding employment and unemployment benefits, the Tuscarawas County Job and Family Services requested the waivers.

Director David Haverfield says that the certification period has been extended for SNAP with those set to expire this month and have not recertified the requirements to receive assistance, will see an extension through September.

“March, April, and May will be extended out three months, so we don’t have to look at them now. The Interim reports are just going to be pushed out.”

Haverfield explains this move will allow JFS staff to focus on unemployment applications.

“The coronavirus situation has caused some problems in particular areas of our economy, like people who aren’t able to work right now.”
