Walter Eugene Yaggi – September 21, 2017

Walter Eugene Yaggi, 83, of New Philadelphia died on Thursday, September 21, 2017, surrounded by his family, while in the care of Community Hospice’s Truman House.

Born on November 21, 1933 at New Philadelphia, Walter was a son of the late Victor and Mary (Zedi) Yaggi.

He was a 1952 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and honorably served his country as a member of the United States Army.

On January 31, 1975, Walter married the former Nancy Lee Maddox. Professionally, he was employed by the former Joy Manufacturing at New Philadelphia before joining the former Shenango Company at Dover where he worked in the foundry as a Core Maker.

He was a member of Jerusalem Church, the National Rifle Association and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife of 42 years, Walter is survived by a daughter, Deborah (Bruce) Allen; two granddaughters, Chase and Kennedy Allen and two sisters, Betty Stilgenbauer, and Alice Leggett all of New Philadelphia.

In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Courtney Allen; a brother, Leroy Yaggi; three half-brothers, Charles, Edwin and Jacob Zedi and three half-sisters, Gertrude Geib, Helen Lang and Margaret Hidey as well as two brothers-in-law, Bill Leggett and Ray Stilgenbauer.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 1:30 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where the family will greet guests one hour prior to the service from 12:30-1:30PM. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Jerusalem Church Cemetery. A meal and fellowship will follow in the Jerusalem Church Social Hall.
