The Clayland Lions Club is announcing applications for Clayland Lions Club Memorial Scholarships are now available in the Guidance Department of Claymont High School. Two scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each will be awarded to seniors who live within the Claymont School District. The Community Center of Southern Tuscarawas is located on Main Street in Port Washington, in partnership with Empower Tusc is holding a public meeting to provide online safety training for parents, educators and anyone concerned with a child’s safety. We all want to keep our kids safe! Unfortunately, online gaming and apps are changing so fast it’s hard for parents to keep up with it. Sheriff Captain Adam Fisher and human trafficking educator Melanie Anderson from Compass, bring all the up-to-date information on how we can guard our kids against online predators, social media bullies and insidious games and apps. Tour the state of the art Hidden in Plain Sight vehicle from Empower Tusc and see if you can spot all the red flags in a simulated teenager’s bedroom. Everyone that tours the HIPS vehicle will be entered into a drawing for a door prize.  We all will discuss the effects of social media on mental health and the rise in suicide rates in teens and young adults. The Carroll County Farm Bureau will hold the Show Stock Seminar on Saturday, April 20th at the Carrollton Livestock Auction Barn from 10 am – 3 pm. This event is free and open to any youth exhibitor planning to show chickens, sheep, hogs, goats and cattle at their county fair. Speakers will present live demonstrations on how to get the best out of your livestock project. Topics including showmanship, grooming, feeding, animal management and what to expect at the fair will all be covered at this event. The event will start at 10 am with a welcome. Following that each species will have a separate session focused on the basic knowledge of that species. Lunch will be available for purchase. During the lunch break, Quality Assurance stations will be available. Following lunch, each species’s session will continue in the afternoon with showmanship, grooming and nutrition. Ongoing TRINITY Breast and Cervical Cancer Grant Program

Many women without health insurance are not aware that this service exists and that they have the opportunity to receive breast and cervical cancer screenings. The Trinity Breast and Cervical Program is part of the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program. The money for this program is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and also the state of Ohio. They are reaching out to women who have not been able to get their annual screenings done because they cannot afford them. Pap Tests, Pelvic Exams, and Clinical Breast Exams are offered to women 40 years of age and over, as also mammograms for women 50 years of age and over who are uninsured and have an income at or below 200% of the federal poverty level. To set up an appointment, women can call Trinity BCCP at 1-800-921-5151.  Trinity will complete an application and help them to choose a provider close to their home. Once enrolled the women are scheduled for their screenings and an appointment letter is mailed to them that they in turn take to their appointment. The letter tells the provider that Trinity BCCP should be billed for the approved visit. Qualified women do not have to pay upfront and will not receive a bill for approved services by Trinity BCCP. For a limited time, Trinity BCCP will give each woman who completes her screening services a $20 gift card. (According to Barb Steitz, Program Manager at Trinity BCCP, the program began in 1994 and has funded over 118,000 pap tests, 131,000 clinical breast exams, and 109,000 mammograms for eligible women.)
