William Arthur Jabs – September 30, 2017

William Arthur Jabs 74 of Stone Creek died Saturday, September 30, 2017 at his residence.

He was born November 16, 1942 in Painesville, Ohio to the late Friedrich W. and Johnanna (Gutgluck) Jabs. He retired from New Philadelphia Schools, having taught math at Welty Middle School. He was a member and former president of the Tuscarawas County Chapter of Ohio Retired Teachers Association and a Cleveland Local Millwright and Pile Driver Union for over 50 years.  William was a member of the Ragersville Zion United Church of Christ and was active with the Camp Washington Food Drive.

He was married on March 25, 1972 to the former Jane L. Wise, who preceded him in death October 20, 2010. He is survived by his two sons Jacob John (Erin) Jabs and Fredrick William Jabs both of Stone Creek and his two grandchildren Logan and Avery Jabs. In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his six siblings. 

Services will be held on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the Ragersville Zion United Church of Christ with Rev. Bruce Haltom officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday 5-8 PM at the Church. Arrangements are being handled by Smith-Varns Funeral Home at Sugarcreek. Memorials may be made to Ragersville Zion United Church of Christ 8831 Crooked Run Rd SW Sugarcreek, Ohio 44681 to be used for Camp Washington Food Drive or Jane L. Jabs Scholarship.
