Residents Need to Get More Involved
New Philadelphia Mayor Joel Day is urging residents to get more involved at the state level. Recently, the Ohio House introduced legislation that would bar municipalities from regulating short-term rentals like AirBNB’s.
The mayor attended the Ohio Municipal League Summer Regional Conference last week, where issues such as potential overreach by state government were discussed, and noted that, “the lack of participation by local elected officials and citizens is giving special-interest groups and lobbyists more say in writing legislation.”
