Nick McWilliams reporting – Starting on January 11th, Access Tusc will start operations of a new transportation service that’s open to all Tuscarawas County residents.
The group works to assist community members with health services, and has provided transportation to those with disabilities and the elderly.
However, according to Transportation Director Shannon Hursey, the new program will be open to all interested residents who need transportation from Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday’s from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“There will be a New Phila Dover city limits cots, and that will be $6 roundtrip, or $3 one way. And then there will be a county cost. Anything outside the Dover New Phila city limits will be $8 roundtrip, or $4 one way.”
Out of county rates will be up to 50 miles, and equal out to $20 one way, and increase for longer distances. Currently, six vans are available in the fleet for use.
Vehicles will also be equipped with wheelchair lifts to assist those with a disability.
Information on the new program can be found at www.accesstusc.org, or by dialing (234-801-8007.
