Nick McWilliams reporting – More formula options will be available for children and families involved in WIC.

While formula shortages continue to impact families with young children, Governor Mike DeWine announced Monday that eight more products will be accepted under WIC as formula that can be purchased through the program.

He told reporters that the restocking process will be an ongoing process, but state officials are hoping for relief soon.

“For WIC families, we are allowing more flexibility to allow greater choice and increase accessibility by adding more choices to eligible formula sizes. We are also working to remove cumbersome documentation requirements for prescription formula, and to temporarily expand product choices for families during the shortage.”

The additional products now allowed under WIC can be found on their Ohio website.

The state and federal governments are asking for increased production from formula producers, while multiple state governors are asking for further help.
