Betty Yelverton, 97, of New Philadelphia passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Park Village Health Care Center South.
Betty was born in Dover on March 11, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Leah ( Harvey ) Graef.
She graduated from Dover High School with the class of 1942. She continued her education at the Aultman School of Nursing, which led her to become a nurse at New Philadelphia High School, where she retired in 1994. She thoroughly enjoyed her time spent working at the school. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association,the Kent State Chestnut Society, and St. John’s United Church of Christ. She loved traveling, gardening and reading.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Yelveton, on June 23, 1997, along with 4 brothers.
Betty leaves behind her six daughters: Joan (Mark) Hoffman, of California; Ann(Don) Kinser,of Chardon; Joy (Dave)Dawson, of New Philadelphia; Jane (Bill) Aldrich, of North Carolina; Sue (Doug)Blanchard, of North Carolina; Elizabeth (Jeff) Focht of Lima; and a brother, Jerry (Ruth)Graef, of Dover. Twelve grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren completed her family.
Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 from 10:00 – 11:30 AM.
