Billy E. Herron 83, of Somerdale, died Friday, October 29, 2021 at Mercy Medical Center in Canton after a brief illness.
He was born in Dover on November 12, 1937 to the late John “Bud” and Goldie (Border) Herron. He retired in 2001 as a truck driver with Baker Highway Express in Dover after 34 years. He was formerly a fireman and member with the Fairfield Township Volunteer Fire Department and enjoyed hunting, woodworking and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, the former Lenore Sears, whom he married December 17, 1955. Also surviving are his children Penny (John) Bennett, Larry Herron, John (Lois) Herron and Rod (Kelly) Herron; 15 grandchildren Chris (Regina) Locker, Jennifer (Joe) Broome, Jacky (Tara) Locker, Missy (Mike) Collins, Tom (Dena) Levengood, John (Courtney) Levengood, Travis (Kim) Herron, Cory Herron, Jeremy (Marsha) Herron, Suzanne Herron, Josh (Megan) Herron, Tyler (Leah) Herron, Nick Herron, Luke Herron and Sarah Herron; 30 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren and a sister Martha McAfee.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Becky Herron Stanley and a brother in law Tuff McAfee.
In keeping with Billy’s wishes, no services are being planned. The Lebold-Smith Funeral Home in Bolivar is handling the arrangements.
