Mary Alice Reporting –
A 49-year-old is facing his 5th OVI among other charges after a nighttime crash on Echo Lake Road.
The New Philadelphia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says that Garry Schupbach was involved in a head-on collision on May 10th just before 10pm.
On a hillcrest, the vehicle Schupbach was operating went left of center striking the other automobile that was traveling in the opposite direction.
Schupbach, along with his passenger, was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained injuries where the passenger was treated at the scene and the driver taken to Union Hospital.
The other vehicle’s driver was wearing a seatbelt and was also taken to the Dover hospital.
The trooper’s investigation found that Schupbach did not have a valid driver’s license and he was operating the automobile without the owner’s permission.
He has been charged with driving left of center, failure to wear a safety belt, driving under suspension, OVI, OVI refusal, and unauthorized vehicle use. He’s expected to appear in New Philadelphia Municipal Court.
