Mary Alice Reporting –
An influx of calls is coming into the Tuscarawas County Health Department with questions of when the COVID-19 vaccine will be accessible.
A limited supply is available for front line workers currently, with vaccinations not offered to the general public.
Director of Health Promotion and Community Relations Jennifer Demuth is asking residents to have patience and understand that any distribution is based upon guidelines from the Ohio Department of Health.
“For now we only have a limited supply of vaccine and that is to be used for specific, critical population. At this time, we do not yet have enough vaccine for all the individuals in phase 1A so there’s no need to call us right now. We will be notifying the priority groups when we have enough vaccine.”
Critical groups, 1A, are up to receive the vaccine first, while supplies last, and this includes healthcare workers and personnel frequently involved with COVID patients, residents and staff at nursing homes, assisted living facilities, psychiatric hospital, those with developmental disabilities or mental health disorders, EMS responders, and those living or staffing group homes and residential facilities.
More information through the different phases and availability will be updated on the TCHD’s website and Facebook page.
