Dawson J. Quillin, 16, of New Philadelphia went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, following injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born on March 18, 2005 in Dover and was a son of Mike and Stacie Polka Quillin. Dawson was a sophomore at Indian Valley High School where he was on the wrestling team; he was also a member of the Orange Crushers Trap Shooting Team in Sugarcreek. In addition to his parents, he is also survived by his brother and mentor, Carter (girlfriend, Kyleigh McDonald) Quillin; sister, Kinsey Quillin both of the home; grandparents, Ted (Brenda) Polka of New Philadelphia, Jane Quillin of Newcomerstown; best friend and partner in crime, Braxton Porter; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Dawson was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing, especially duck hunting with his dad. A goofball at heart, Dawson will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his ability to be the center of attention, and his gift to be a friend to everyone he met. He loved trying out a new wrestling move on his dad and would always be there with a gentle hug for his mother…Dawson will be forever loved by all who knew him.

The family will be greeting friends on Sunday, October 31st at New Pointe Community Church from 4:00 to 6:00 pm with a celebration of Dawson’s life beginning at 6:00 pm with Pastor Rich Van Arsdalen officiating. In honor of Dawson’s love of hunting, friends and family are encouraged to wear their favorite camouflage shirt or hat. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Pointe Community Church at 3950 State Route 39 NW, Dover, Ohio 44622.
