Mary Alice Reporting – Monetary donations are still being accepted for the 13th annual Christmas with a Cop event.

Hosted by the Fraternal Order of Police Tuscora Lodge #4, the event provides gifts for all children in a household. The recipients for this program are selected through recommendations from teachers in Tuscarawas County school districts.

Lodge President Bob Everett explains they work to provide something for every child, under the age of 18.

“We will find out what their needs are first and then their desires, as far as games or whatever toys, but we always try to get needs first. We have a certain amount of money that we try to allot for each child. Not just the one nominated but each [sibling].”

Officers will shop for items and a police caravan will visit each home on Saturday, December 17th. Normally, associated costs exceed $6,000 and the local FOP is asking for support of this program.

“We are very thankful in our community because for 13 years the folks have supported the program and we once again ask for your help by making a donation to keep the children in our community happy.”

Everett says they are also going to present a grocery gift card to help defray food costs for the holiday season.

Donations can be sent to the organizations directly at FOP-Tuscora Lodge #4, P.O. Box #2, Dover, Ohio 44622. Everett notes that they do have a special account for Christmas with a Cop so donations can be sent in at any time throughout the year.
