Mary Alice Reporting-

Dover firefighters battled the frigid condition after a fire was called in Saturday at 7:21am.

Captain Mike Mosser says they responded to 4316 Murray Road. At the residence, flames were showing from the roof of the building used as a garage and recording studio.

Crews were on scene for roughly 4 hours and 30 minutes as Mosser notes that, “the building is a total loss. We were hampered by the conditions. It took a lot of water so we had to use a lot of tank trucks to bring in water to us. Toward the end, we had trucks start to freeze.”

The owner was not injured and a cause is unknown, with an investigation to happen on Monday. Mosser praised Dover Township for helping by adding additional road salt and bringing a backhoe to shift the burning debris.

Other assisting units included New Philadelphia, Sugarcreek, Wayne and York township fire, Strasburg, and the Tuscarawas Sheriff’s Office.

With the persisting cold, Mosser reminds all to use additional heating sources appropriately.
