Mary Alice Reporting –

A confirmed structure fire, on State Route 516, had Dover Fire crews responding in the morning hours on Sunday.

Units were called out just before 8am and upon arrival, smoke was coming from the single-story, wood-framed, ranch-style home.

The owner was outside and indicated that everyone made it out safely, except for the family dog.

Captain Michael Mosser explains that an attack line was stretched into the first floor and firefighters encountered heavy smoke and high heat conditions. Fire was found in the kitchen and was quickly extinguished.

Meanwhile, firefighters were able to find the dog in the back bedroom and they safely made it outside.

A specific cause is undetermined at this time and fire damage was significant, but limited to the kitchen. The home did suffer smoke damage throughout the entire structure.

Assisting units included New Philadelphia, Sugarcreek, Strasburg, and Smith Ambulance.
