Former Dover Mayor Richard Homrighausen previously filed civil complaints against the city and administration is looking to dismiss.

Homrighausen had filed two civil suits in the Tuscarawas County Common Pleas Court related to three city employees who were fired by the former head of the city and then reinstated based upon judgment from the State Personnel Board of Review.

During Monday night’s council meeting, Law Director Douglas O’Meara noted, on Friday, after Shane Gunnoe’s appointment as interim mayor, they filed a dismissal.

“Of litigation that was filed against the City of Dover from the former mayor. Purpose of that is to try to terminate those costs that are being unnecessarily incurred and also an attempt to stop the interference of the reinstatement of the three employees. We did that and we’ll see what comes next.”

When the complaints were initially filed, Homrighausen claimed that the firings were due to a diminishing faith in the employee’s ability to perform the duties of their jobs.
