Mary Alice Reporting –
The Dover Public Library will continue to accept donations of clean plastic caps and lids.
This initiative is for the ABC Promise Partnership Plastic Bench Project as they work with the Dover Public Library to accumulate 200 pounds of donated plastic caps and lids, which will then be extruded into a bench that will be placed on library grounds.
“The goal of the project is to teach sustainability,” says Jim Gill, library director. “We have been amazed by the interest in the project from the community. Each and every day we have people of all ages bringing in their caps and lids. As 2021 approaches, the library will be presenting programs for kids and teens that talk about recycling and the importance of being good stewards of what we have been given. It is our duty to raise up the next generation in our community and to pay it forward.”
Additionally, the Dover Public Library is looking for financial sponsors to cover the cost of the estimated $600 expense to transport the plastic and to extrude the bench.
Checks can be made out to the Dover Public Library. For more information and for a complete list of acceptable plastic caps and lids, please contact library director Jim Gill at 330-343-6123 or go online to www.doverlibrary.org. The Dover Public Library is located at 525 N. Walnut Street, directly across the street from Dover High School.
The plastic cap and lid donation is open until December 10.
