Mary Alice Reporting – Local businesses and organizations are asked to sign-up for a reverse parade that is a community staple in New Philadelphia.

The parade is this Friday, starting at 6 pm, and more space is available for folks to set up a table, vehicle, or trailer that will be stationary at the New Towne Mall.

New Philadelphia Executive Administrative Assistant Lacey McKain says this will be a safe event since participants setting up will be spread out in the Mall’s parking lot and folks will stay in their vehicles.

“Along a route that we will have designated for attendees to drive through and view all of the parade floats. The parade floats can consist of vehicles or trailers, and you can set up a stand since it’s stationary this year. We are welcoming all kinds of setups and we just want to have a fun Christmas display for the community.”

The route for the parade can be found on the city’s Facebook page with the route entrance starting at Kohl’s off of Mill Avenue.

In addition, McKain notes that anyone driving through is asked to remain in their vehicle and to not stop so traffic is not backed up.

“Are inviting businesses to bring as many vehicles and floats as they like. We will just have them spaced out appropriately in designated spots. We will have all the participants’ setup, from 6 pm to 8 pm, and you can get inline anytime, between those two hours, to view the parade.”

Individual stations may pass out candy providing they are individually wrapped.
