A FREE Bike Rodeo event will be held on Sunday, May 4th from 1 – 4 pm in the student parking lot of Strasburg-Franklin Schools, 140 N Bodmer Avenue, Strasburg. All youth, Pre-K through 5th grade, are invited to participate, and youth from all areas surrounding Strasburg are welcome. Sign in and depart at any time during the event. There is no need to stay on site for the entire event term. There will be safety stations supported by Ernie’s Bicycle Shop and Strasburg’s Fire and Police Departments. Participants will learn about bicycle maintenance, proper helmet use, and traffic rules. Boy Scouts will provide skills stations including balance, steering, coasting, turning, and braking. These skills will be practiced before their use in the timed “bike rodeo” course. Prizes will be awarded for the fastest riders in 4 age groups: Pre-K, K-1st grade, 2nd – 3rd grade, 4th – 5th grade, and several door prizes will be drawn at the end. Light refreshments and themed crafts will be available at no cost. The Kona Ice food truck will be on site for shaved ice treats at the participants’ expense. The event is hosted by Cub Scout Pack 72 and Boy Scout Pack 72 of Strasburg.
