Scholarship Details & Eligibility. Two (2) one-time awards of $500 each will be granted to qualifying seniors. Applicants must be graduating seniors who either reside in Tuscarawas County\, attend a Tuscarawas County high school\, or are part of a county-based homeschooling network. Recipients may use the funds toward a certificate program\, associate degree\, or bachelor’s degree at any accredited post-secondary institution. Application Requirements Applicants must submit the following: A completed TCLC scholarship application. Please visit your school’s guidance counselor office or the Tuscarawas County Literacy Coalition website at https://tuscliteracy.org/scholarship/ for an application. A typed 300–500-word essay addressing the question: “How have you or how would you improve literacy in your community?” Two letters of recommendation: one from a teacher and one from another adult\, such as a club or group advisor\, another teacher\, or school official. Scholarship applications are due March 1\, 2026\, can be mailed to Tuscarawas County Literacy Coalition\, PO Box 1173\, New Philadelphia\, OH 44663 (must be postmarked by March 1\, 2026)\, or emailed to TuscarawasLiteracy@gmail.com with the subject line “TCLC Scholarship Submission.”

The Friends of the Main Library is a 501(c)3 organization that raises funds for special projects at the library. The Murder Mystery Dinner is $50 per person and requires tickets to be purchased in advance at the Main Library in New Philadelphia. Tickets can be purchased by cash\, check\, or card. Tickets purchased with a card will have a $3 per ticket transaction fee. Reservations are required by February 27th. This year’s murder mystery is titled The Mobster’s Menu for Dinner and was written by Steve Long. The story follows the Gelato Gang as they crash a 1943 Street Fair on their way to Philadelphia. Ticketholders are encouraged to dress in their favorite ‘40s costumes to add to the ambiance of the evening. Dinner\, which is included with each ticket\, will feature a buffet-style dinner from Kathy’s Catering and include roast beef\, seven-layer salad\, broccoli salad\, parsley potatoes\, alfredo pasta\, rolls\, and a choice of dessert. After dinner\, guests will be able to ask questions to help determine who the culprit is\, and those at each table will put forth theories after the interrogations. The table with the best guess will be the winner. The Main Library is located at 121 Fair Ave. NW in New Philadelphia. Doors for each Murder Mystery will open 30 minutes before show time.
