Mary Alice Reporting – The Ohio Governor’s office has noted that the deadline to apply for the Bar and Restaurant Assistance Fund was extended to January 31st.

There are approximately 15,400 on-premises liquor permits in the state eligible for assistance and roughly 70% have taken advantage of the financial aid.

Of the funding received by the State of Ohio from the federal CARES Act, $38.7 million was designated to provide $2,500 assistance payments to on-premise liquor permit holders to help them through difficulties experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic.

While the program is referred to as the Bar & Restaurant Assistance Fund, other establishments may have eligible permits, such as movie theaters, bowling alleys, sports and concert venues, and even some hair salons could be eligible for the funding.

Eligible businesses can visit to apply, which requires them to simply enter their liquor permit number and federal tax information.
