Nick McWilliams reporting – Additional community cleanup efforts are expected soon in the city of Uhrichsville.

Leaders have been working to increase crackdowns on blighted and abandoned structures, and are hoping to add further beautification projects in the future.

Mayor Mark Haney told council recently that the Uhrichsville Eagles are planning on donating nearly $4,000 for roll-off dumpsters to be placed at various locations.

“We’re going to put four different roll-offs in different parts of town. They’re also going to donate labor for another clean up. We had discussions in meetings, and I asked them if they would be willing to do that. They are willing to do that, and we’re going to decide where we are going to station those roll-offs for people to get rid of stuff.”

In addition to the dumpsters, the city is in talks with the Tuscarawas County Health Department to add an additional tire recycling drive, after a successful first event.

The community clean-up day earlier this year resulted in over 175 students participating with litter pickup, weeding, flowerbed planting and other projects throughout the city.

Another cleanup project could be on the way in the fall with the goal of adding leaf raking to the list of community improvements.
