Glen H. Schoonover 89, of Strasburg and a long-time resident of Stone Creek, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 2, 2021. Born February 5, 1932, in Cambridge, he was a son of the late George and Amelia (Jones) Schoonover. He moved to Canton, Ohio as a teenager and graduated from Lincoln High School. Glen was preceded in death by 2 siblings; Carl Schoonover and Mary Evelyn Kimble.

Glen spent his career of over 40 years at Kempthorn Motors in Canton as a Service manager and later years in sales. He retired in 1994

He is survived by his wife, the former Rhea Grimm, whom he married on September 4, 1970. They were blessed with 51 years of marriage. They enjoyed spending time with good friends playing cards, riding motorcycle and trying new restaurants. They also enjoyed taking long drives in the countryside. Glen also enjoyed a passion for aviation. He had his pilot’s license and loved flying small aircraft. In his later years, he flew remote-controlled airplanes and helicopters. He also enjoyed hunting, looking for mushrooms in the Spring, looking for arrowheads, growing a large garden, photography and got a kick out of trying to learn to use his personal computer.

Glen and Rhea have a blended family of 4 children. Diane (Vince) Valot of Dover, Greg (Tam) Ellwood of Gnadenhutten, Lori Ellwood of Marietta, Ga. and Chris (Bob) Burnworth of Strasburg. They are also blessed with 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

In keeping with Glen’s wishes, cremation will take place and he will be interred at Stone Creek Cemetery. Services will be private for the immediate family. The Lebold-Smith Funeral Home in Bolivar is handling the arrangements.
