Nick McWilliams reporting – New Philadelphia’s airport will see some improvements to the main vein for airplanes to make it to the runway.
Harry Clever Field will have an upgraded taxiway after Mayor Joel Day signed off on a grant from the Federal Aviation Administration for $135,000.
Cost sharing for the project will see the Ohio Department of Transportation Aviation unit and the city pay $7,500 each.
There will be some closures of the taxiway related to the project, according to Day.
“The construction period is scheduled to be from Monday, August 15th, to Tuesday, September 13th. The main runway and turf runway will be closed periodically during the project. Notifications of the closures will be sent to the aviation community.”
The taxiway will also be relocated as a part of the project.
As a part of the upgrades, new edge lightning will indicate the passageway to pilots, along with signs.
