Mary Alice Reporting – A new head coach has been named for the New Philadelphia City School’s high school football program.

The district announced that Mike Johnson, a 2001 New Philadelphia graduate, will transition into the role, pending Board approval at the next meeting.

Johnson has been an assistant for the Quakers since 2009 and has also served as the Offensive Coordinator.

The position opened when 18-year coach Matt Dennison stepped down, who adds that, “Coach Johnson is a perfect fit for our program right now. He is energetic, organized, and builds great relationships with the players. We look forward to him continuing our proud tradition and building upon it. I am confident that the program will grow and flourish under Coach Johnson’s leadership.”
