Nick McWilliams reporting – As pro football legends are recognized this week in Canton, officials are asking for patience and the utmost caution when driving.
The Class of 2022 will be inducted on August 6th at noon in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
While the celebration is cause for fanfare for football fans, Ohio Department of Transportation District 4 Public Information Officer Ray Marsch says that the increased traffic could cause to delays.
“Every year, we try to do our best to limit the amount of cones on the roadway all throughout Stark County, specifically Canton, during this enshrinement week. One exception to this, unfortunately, is our I-77 and U.S. 30 interchange project. That zone is going to be in place throughout the week here.”
Travelers approaching Canton for the festivities from the south on I-77 are advised to stay in the left lane while approaching State Route 800.
The enshrinement week runs from August 4th through the 7th, bringing in people from all across the country and beyond.
Drivers should take it slow, plan ahead, leave as early as possible, and consider factors such as parking and congestion.
