Howard L. Beichel – August 28, 2021

Howard L. Beichel, 91, of Strasburg passed away at Park Village Health Care Center in Dover on Saturday, August 28, 2021.

Born on October 24, 1929, in Massillon, he was the son of the late Howard L. and Treva (Kohr) Beichel. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, Sonny Zeismer.

Howard graduated from Massillon Washington High School. He honorably served our country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

On January 21, 1952, he married Nancy Haswell, who preceded him in death on August 6, 2019.

Howard was a custodian at Strasburg Schools for 18 years and had also worked at Massillon City Hospital for 20 years. Howard was well known for his painting business.

He enjoyed watching and following Strasburg softball and Dover Basketball. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He leaves beyond his three children; Beth (Bobby) Von Kaenel of Dover, Perry (Cheryl) Beichel of Fresno, and Tammy (Mike) Stockert of Strasburg; grandchildren, Matthew (Lia) Von Kaenel, Marcus (Cami) Von Kaenel, Isaac Beichel, Josh Stockert, David Stockert, Zachary (Stacie) Stockert, Lydia (Nate) Saylor; great-grandchildren, Collin, Cohen, Carter, and Elle Von Kaenel, Gabe and Griffin Stockert, Juniper Saylor; along with his sister, Delores Rutherford.

In honoring Howard’s wishes, cremation has been handled through the care of the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Strasburg. He will be buried at Grandview Union Cemetery in Strasburg. Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Strasburg on Saturday, September 4, 2021, from 10:00-11:00 am. Pastor Jim Borton will officiate a memorial service at 11:00 am. A funeral reception will follow in the reception hall at the funeral home.
