James J. Joyce 94, of Bolivar, died Sunday November 7, 2021 at Hennis Care Centre in Bolivar following a period of declining health. Born December 8, 1926 in Lakewood, Ohio, he was a son of the late Michael J. and Elizabeth C. (Kuehn) Joyce.

He retired from Carlon Industries in Cleveland and formerly taught school at John Adams High School in Cleveland. He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church Cleveland. He completed his Masters Degree at John Carroll University in Cleveland then completed Law School at Cleveland Marshall College of Law.

James is survived by his sister, Jeanne Pleshinger of Bolivar. He lived most of his with his sister Jeannie and her husband Donald along with their children Dr. John (Christine) Pleshinger of Dover, Catharine (Dr. John) Blackman of Columbus, James (Elissa) Pleshinger of Cincinnati and several additional nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Elizabeth Joyce and a brother Major General Robert Joyce.

In keeping with James’ wishes, cremation will take place and a family memorial service will be planned at a later date. The Lebold-Smith Funeral Home in Bolivar is handling the arrangements.
