Jonas N. Yoder, 89, of Sugarcreek passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at the Truman House in New Philadelphia following a short illness.

He was born in Sugarcreek on March 26, 1932 to the late Nelson D. and Mary Ann (Schlabach) Yoder and married Sarah Miller on March 21, 1958. She survives.

He is retired from Andreas Furniture in Sugarcreek and was a member of the Walnut Creek Mennonite Church.

Jonas and Sarah experienced many years of travel together and created precious memories from those travels. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in school and church activities and sports. He had numerous round table discussions with his longtime friends and was an avid fan and supporter of the Cleveland Indians, The Browns and Ohio State.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Marlene (Paul) Plumb of San Diego, CA, Rita (John) Yoder and Jolane (Art) Yoder both of Berlin and Tom (Leslie) Yoder of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Sarah Morrison, Angela Engle, Aaron Plumb, Zach Plumb, Isaac Plumb, Amanda Porcher, Nicole Johnson, Ryan Yoder, Megan Weaver, Josh Yoder,, Jared Yoder, Madison Yoder, Brady Yoder and Blake Yoder; 15 great grandchildren; and his brother Owen Yoder of Lodi.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Lloyd (Emma) Yoder, Emanuel (Pauline) Yoder, Edna (Floyd) Miller, Emma Yoder and sister-in-law Judy Yoder.

Private family services will be held on Sunday at Walnut Creek Mennonite Church with Pastor Charles Grimes officiating and burial will be in the Church Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County.
