Nick McWilliams reporting – Area businesses and 4-H supporters showed up to support the Tuscarawas County Fair once again over the weekend.

The Small Animal Sale wrapped up on Saturday with more impressive totals, bringing in nearly $148,000.

Combined with the Dairy Products sale and the Livestock auctions, a total of $1,630,128 was brought in to support area exhibitors. That represents an increase of over $150,000 more than last year.

The Grand Champion market goat was sold for $4,915.50, presented by Marshall Miller. Reserve Champion Jacqui Blose sold their project for $1,760 to HRN Construction.

Kasey Sigler sold the Grand Champion rabbit for $1,000 to Authentic Church and Bases Loaded Indoor Training Facility. Reserve Champion Lilyann Szymialis sold theirs for $800 to Beitzels Meats.

For broilers, TMC Waterproofing purchased the Grand Champion chicken shown by Chett Troyer for $16,000, while the Reserve Champion was purchased for $2,500 by Dr. Steven Chismar, exhibited by Madison Burkholder.

In turkey, Bennett Brown was awarded Grand Champion, which was sold to Brotherhood HVAC for $1,600. Reserve Champion honors went to Elias Harris, which was purchased by Boltz Family Farms and The Bear’s Den for $1,550.

With ducks, Bob Hall Auctioneer and Cronebaugh Auction Services purchased the Grand Champion for $1,300, presented by Noah Chismar. The Reserve Champion was Camdyn White, with the project selling to HRN Construction for $650.
