Mary Alice Reporting – A few more days are left for residents to contribute to an annual campaign the benefits the Dover/New Philadelphia Salvation Army.

Red kettles have been set up at area retailers with workers and volunteers helping to ring the bell to encourage a donation.

Captain Andrew Behr explains this is the organization’s biggest fundraiser.

“It raises a lot of money. For this area, it covers about a third of our yearly budget. It’s providing for help all year round with some of the programs we have going on.”

Online donations are also accepted under the Virtual Red Kettle, which can be found at www.easternusa.salvationarmy.org/northeast-ohio/dover-new-philadelphia. The final day for the kettle campaign is this Saturday.

Funding goes toward youth program, the soup kitchen and food pantry, among other efforts to aid the local community.
