Nick McWilliams reporting – Tuscarawas County Commissioner Al Landis will lead the trio in 2021, and is looking forward to progress in the county.

The president role, which historically rotates to a different commissioner each year, now goes to Landis, the former 98th District State Representative, who took over the county board role in 2019.

Landis says that after his first two years, he’s looking forward to more growth within Tuscarawas County, and thanked outgoing president, Chris Abbuhl.

“[We have a] new vision and new goals in 2021. We’re not out of the woods yet, but because of your leadership, I think that we can certainly see a light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you for the opportunity to serve as president this year, and I’m going to do my very best to serve the people and the board.”

The commissioners added they hope to see the COVID pandemic move behind the community and the world, while continuing to grow the economy of Tuscarawas County.

In addition, the board hopes to start addressing potential long-term effects from the pandemic fallout, with all three feeling confident in the position the county currently sits with the virus still causing issues.
