Marlene J. Renner, 85, of Sugarcreek, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021 at Hennis Care Centre in Dover following a period of declining health.

She was born in Tuscarawas County to the late Marie Middaugh and step-father Charles Fuqua and married Glenohlen Edison “Jake” Renner on August 3, 1955. He died on May 14, 2007.

She worked at the former Blue Bird Restaurant in Sugarcreek, Garaway High School Cafeteria for 17 years and then worked at the Music Box Store. She also provided transportation for the Amish community for several years.

She enjoyed putting out her huge garden and canning, picking strawberries, playing BINGO and having garage sales. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and sitting outside with her cat “Peppy” on her lap.

She is survived by her children, Steve Renner of Sugarcreek, Cynthia Renner of Mineral Ridge and Lisa (Tony) Gunter of Pataskala; two grandchildren, Jessica and Kara Gunter both of Pataskala; and her sister, Linda (Bob) Nacci of New Philadelphia.

She was preceded in death by her mother, step-father and husband.

Due to the current health concerns, the family will have a private service on Monday, January 18, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek. Burial will follow in Union Hill Cemetery.
