Marvin L. Bethel, 79, of Uhrichsville, passed away at his home on Tuesday, January 12, 2021. Born September 21, 1941 in Flushing, Ohio, he was a son of the late William James and Goldie May (Nabb) Bethel.

Marvin will be deeply missed by his surviving family which includes his wife, the former Glenna Jean Garner, with whom he celebrated 57 years of loving marriage on Sunday, having been married on January 10, 1965; daughters, Lisa (Troy) Shaver, Leslie (Jeff) Whytsell, Lynette (Lloyd) Cox, Lori (Tim) Draher; great-grandson, Dillon Cerana, whom he raised like his own; 10 grandchildren, Angie, Danielle, Misty, Britney, Melissa, Veronica, Desiry, Wayne, Kyle, and T.J.; 24 great-grandchildren; siblings, Trevison Bethel, Gloria Coverdale, and Jean Hennis; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Cory and Richard Bethel; sisters, Pearl Clifton and Dorothy Phillips; brothers, Kenneth Bethel and Bob Bethel; and a great-nephew who was like his son, Chris Baker.

A lifelong area resident, Marvin was employed by Alsco for nearly 30 years until their closing and had most recently worked for Marlite. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who was devoted to his family. He especially treasured the time that he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

According to his wishes, cremation is planned without a public visitation or service. He will be interred in Rock Hill Cemetery at Flushing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
