Michael “Mickey” Joseph Singel, Sr., 76, of Newcomerstown, died Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center. He was born February 6, 1945 in Cleveland to the late George Singel of Dunlo, PA and the late Hermine (Oravec) Singel of Czechoslovakia.
 
He was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Cleveland, class of 1963. Mickey married his childhood sweetheart, Ella Lorraine (Brown) Singel, who passed on October 11, 2000. They eloped on May 13, 1965 to the home of the Rev. Nelson Barker in Richlands, VA, who officiated their wedding vows. The ceremony was witnessed by sisters of the bride, Louise Barnes, Margaret Baisden, Jo Stevens, and the bride’s brother-in-law Arch Stevens.
 
Mickey worked a variety of different jobs throughout his life, including maintenance at Otis Elevator Company in Cleveland; Freedom Academy in Cleveland; both Kurz Kasch and Tastee Apple in Newcomerstown. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Mickey was a talented artist who loved drawing and painting for his family. He enjoyed raising fish, building a 100 gallon tank filled with various varieties. In his younger years, he enjoyed participating in bowling and softball leagues and games of tennis with his buddies. Family time was what he enjoyed the most, including phone calls and visits with his beloved brothers; visits with his numerous nieces and nephews; celebrations and meals with his children; but most of all “Geda the Great” enjoyed spoiling his granddaughters and great-granddaughters.
 
Mickey is survived by his children, Kathleen Ann (Greg) Fenton, Michael Joseph Singel Jr., Kimberly Susan Singel, all of Newcomerstown; his grandchildren, Kristen (Curt) Gipe of New Philadelphia, Hannah (Jarrod Vanco) Fenton of Brunswick, Brooke (Seth) Caley of Fort Riley, KS; great-granddaughters, Lydia and Riley Gipe of New Philadelphia; siblings John Singel of Parma, Donald (Carol) Singel of Parker, CO, Joseph (Donna) Singel of Saint Cloud, FL, Andrew (Betty Sabetto) Singel of Cleveland; his canine companions, Zoey and Zuzu, and grand-puppy Charley, and cat, Peaches. Along with his parents and beloved wife, Ella, Mickey was preceded in death by his infant brother, George Singel, Jr.; sister-in-law Thelma Singel. Mickey is now reunited with his faithful canine companion of 14 years, Cherokee.

Services will be Saturday, September 18, at 12:00 PM at Addy Funeral Home in Newcomerstown, with Pastor Mark Brodbeck officiating, followed by burial at West Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Saturday, from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM prior to the service.
