Nick McWilliams reporting – The Christopher Lowery Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day event at the Dover First Baptist Church will feature former Cleveland Guardians pitcher Perci Garner.

In honor of MLK Day on Monday, the church will open their doors for the celebration to remember the civil rights leader, with ceremonies starting at 7 p.m.

Garner, who spent nine years playing professional baseball, currently serves as the executive director for the Rainbow Connection, and is scheduled to deliver a keynote address to those in attendance.

The yearly program has been a staple of the church since 1986, and celebrates the legacy of King and others who helped lead the civil rights movement.

New Philadelphia Law Director Marvin Fete will serve as the master of ceremonies, with live musical performances by the Gustkey family.
