Mary Alice Reporting – Phase 1B for Tuscarawas County officially started today (Wednesday) and more doses were shipped.

All doses are planned to be utilized this week; however, with supplies still limited, department staff are prepared to contact eligible individuals on the waitlist to schedule an appointment as more shipments arrive.

Director of Health Promotion and Community Relations Jennifer Demuth says they received 900 COVID vaccine doses to administer to frontline workers still awaiting the vaccination and the next step, for ages 80 and up, will then begin.

“We’re really happy that we were able to schedule 90 people for vaccination every day throughout the rest of this week and we were able to schedule 600 people for a mass vaccination this Saturday. So, again these vaccinations are by appointment only.”

As a reminder, dependent on vaccine supplies, the state of Ohio’s distribution plan, after Phase 1B, is for Ohioans 74 years and older or those with severe congenital or developmental disorders can get the vaccine or be placed on the waitlist starting the week of January 25th.

As always, up-to-date information can be found on the Tuscarawas Health Department’s website,
