Nick McWilliams reporting – More incidents of thefts and break-ins were reported over the weekend in Tuscarawas County.

The most recent break-ins were reported in New Philadelphia and Fresno.

On Sunday, a resident in New Phila reported their truck was broken into, with a handgun, ammunition, a knife, and other items were taken. Deputies are searching for possible suspects, following multiple other break-ins in the area.

Also in New Phila, a backpack-style purse was taken from a vehicle sometime late Sunday on Wainwright Road.

Another break-in was reported early Monday morning in that area, with two trucks entered overnight.

A business, Furry Trails, was broken into in Fresno on Monday as well, with an estimated $20,000 of cash and checks stolen. Video surveillance showed two individuals entering the building through a window, taking additional items as well.

Law enforcement remind all residents to keep valuables out of sight, and keep all vehicles and garages secure, especially overnight. The first area hit with these break-ins was the Village of Tuscarawas.

Anyone who has been a victim of recent break-ins or who potentially has camera footage is asked to contact law enforcement with any details.
