Nick McWilliams reporting – Through a national program, Tuscarawas County emergency programs are eligible for a portion of over $12,500.

With the goal of expanding emergency food and shelter programs, the emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program awarded the funds recently, which were based on the number of unemployed residents in the county.

All funds are retroactive to November 1st, 2021.

The local EFSP board is meeting to review applications for receipt of the funds. The board consists of various non-profits, including the American Red Cross, Friends of the Homeless, the Greater Dover/New Philadelphia Food Pantry, Salvation Army, and HARCATUS.

Agencies eligible for funds must be private, voluntary non-profits, have an accounting system, are eligible for federal funds, demonstrate an ability to deliver emergency food or shelter programs, along with other requirements.

Potential qualifying agencies are urged to apply by contacting Chairperson Louise Worsham at (330) 343-6012 or emailing director@t4conline.net.

The deadline for applications is Friday, May 20th, at 8:30 a.m.
