A local Board of Education has decided on the next assistant superintendent effective August 1st.

The position opened when Amy Wentworth was promoted to superintendent of the New Philadelphia City School District.

Jeffrey Williams is returning to the Quakers where, from 2010 to 2015, he was a social studies teacher and a coach for the boys’ middle school track and girls’ middle school basketball.

For the past six years, he has been an administrator with Garaway School, with three years as the Ragersville and Baltic Elementaries Principal and the last three years as the Director of student services in charge of special education, curriculum, district testing, federal programs, and gifted services.

In a release, Williams said that he is “very excited to join the administrative team and add my varied educational experiences to every school and department in our district. I am eternally thankful to the Board of Education and Mrs. Wentworth for believing in me as a leader and I want them to know that I will live and breathe our schools and this community.”

Since 2000, Williams has lived in New Philadelphia with his wife and daughter.
